Some good reading on Bill's site, I took a quick glance at the Roller conversion page. Is this conversion similar or same as an SRM conversion?
Has anyone had an SRM conversion done at all? At my next strip down I think I may go for this if it's successful at all.
Seems that there are alot of interesting BSA sites out there that are not found by google or other search engines. Keep em comming.

BeezaBill lives in West Australia. I live in Queensland and have had a bit to do with Bill (by email and phone) during the last 12 months. I've made his gearbox index plunger and its brilliant. I have purchased one of his plunger alloy plate clutch kits and expect it to be as good. I've bought a set of A7 crankcases off him which will end up in my star twin. He runs the web site in this link.
He is an absolute gentleman, a bloody good bloke and now has terminal cancer. There is nothing we can do about this poxy disease which has carted off so many of our mates. but .. Is there something we can do to save his site or the info on it. I know some of youse belong to several internet groups. Do you think one of them could store the info a sort of memorial as well as a good reference. I'm sure bill would agree to this. Just my thoughts.

BSA Bill is a great fellow, and famous for his preparedness to help others (I know Josh and Gavin will vouch for that!). As well as being a clever and helpful person, What I also admire about him is he is a "doer"; and he rides his bikes. I am told that a few years ago he rode a rigid A10 around Australia. This is Bill on his A65, just over 12 months ago, when a group of riders from the Perth based BMEC club rode from Perth to the South Australian border (a looong looooong way) for a drink at Ceduna. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W-YyJcSnhM1,000 miles to go! Bill was just leaving Norseman when this was taken. Have you ever heard a more beautiful sound....? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEn7VQTxkVcRichard

Josh, young fellow, A bit of respect for your elders is required!
I bet you were sent to the corner of the class room more often than most!
The irreverant lad is referring to my bushy (grey) mutton chops, which I have been growing for the last three months. Reason is, I am a budding thespian, and have the part of Bob Cratchet in Scrooge The Musical. The "season" (4 shows) commences on 19th November, so my date with destiny approaches!
Apart from The Mikado (in grade 7, 40 years ago), I have never done anything like this before.
My wife heads a secondary school music department, and is the musical director for this production.
When they were auditioning, I was in the shed putting the head on a Super Rocket. Wife rings and says: "we are short of men; come and audition" Me: "Bugger off!" Wife: "We are desperate; help us out - you can stand in the choir"
Me: "No Way!"
So I went, and ended up with a part. I always thought the only stage i would be on, was one out of town!
It has been great fun, and have learn't a lot.
I have never sung before (happen to have three solos!), but playing pedal steel guitar has done wonders for my ear.
In the programme we had to write something about our background, so I said that I knew how to tune a BSA.
So, November 22nd, the mutton chops get shaved off!
Richard (Tauber)

Richard,
First, I am also sad to hear of Bill's condition. His website has been most informative and it was an early touchstone for me to see the kinds of mods possible on an A10, though, can't say I went with them. Now, it seems the site is gone. I hope it can come back, perhaps through our administrator's generous offer.
I can't resist sharing this, I too have been the Mikado, 44 years ago in grade 12. The question is, who was the more humane Mikado?
There are more than a few here with musical interests, professional or recreational. For example, our administrator, the guitarist and record producer. (Sorry if that's a deep, dark secret Erling, but an online discography is a dead giveaway.) I have a similar story with respect to community theater musicals. My daughter is an aspiring actress and, as a 10 year old, was in "Bye Bye Birdie", put on at the local college in their summer musicals program. I had been just sitting in the audience watching the rehearsals when it became obvious they had very few men and, then, few baritones. Long story short, I ended up in the show and have done the summer shows with my daughter since. A couple of years ago I was Lazar Wolf in "Fiddler on the Roof". It was a lot of fun and provided great contrast to getting into the garage and tearing down the A10.

Good you didn't find the train robber stuff as well, am still alive and living in Brazil... (edit: Richard, you did your homework, it was the days of rock, girls and substances (in reality 99% incredibly hard work only).
Anyway, straying back to topic, anybody (or BeezaBill if reading) knows where the files for the website may be, I could take a look at what could be done.
Thanks e

...and working with Joćo Gilberto on the latest bossa nova, no doubt.
As a bow to the topic, I would really love riding my A10 along Ipanema Beach, particularly if the bike had a timing-side conversion designed by Beeza Bill.

hi ive had the srm needle roller oil end feed conversion and best ove all they move the wet sumping ball and spring behind the oil pump like the a65 so you dont have to strip the engine to get at it just the timing chest also they say with regular oil changes bottom end should last for in excess of 200000 miles also i had the stronger connecting rods fitted i also have the srm oil pump it pumps more oil than the original it has the bigger gears like the a65 srm took over the devimead conversion for the needle roller conversion and have been doing it for a long time i wouldn't trust the plain timing side bush it was a main problem on BSAs starving the left hand side of oil when the plain baring was worn but having said that if you change the oil regularly and have a decent plain baring srm do them they should last a lot longer there are a lot of bad plain bearings out there

I was talking to Bill the other day. He seems to be coping ok. He told me his site is now hosted by dropbears.com The direct link is http://bsa-a10.hailwood.com/and for those interested in lesser machines, they also now host the super rocket page. The direct link for this is http://bsa.hailwood.com/cheers

I had an end feed conversion done, not by SRM (or even Devimead, who developed it, I believe), but by the High Gear Engine Centre when it was run by Len Paterson (now of Cylinder Head Shop).
It did, admittedly, spin its drive side bearing some years later, and was then rebuilt by Rick Parkington (Classic Bike mag) in '95 ish?, he was impressed by the quality of the work that had been done on it by HGEC though, the bike is still going strong. Cheers, Iain

Iain,
Looks like a bit of gear slippage, mate. You seem to have gotten the post topics mixed up.

Appologise! Looks like I may well have thrown a wobbly on this thread mentioning the end feed conversion when it originally started off about Beeza Bills website.
