Carter filter

Hi all,
I recently found out there was no carter mesh filter in my 56 A7 present. So I ordered an alu carter plate with the magnetic bolt in it with a mesh filter etc.
The carter plate fitted okay and the mesh filter too. Only problem is that the oil sucking pipe, which should go through the little hole in the mesh filter, is not sticking in the hole ......
Any one had this before? Wonder how I can mend this. Cutting a new hole in the mesh filter at the right place could be a solution?

Mine fouled on the edge of said hole. It's a copper pipe hanging down there and I did think about trying to bend it but chickened out. I reworked the hole in the mesh, and then did a bit of soldering on it. I do also run a paper filer on the return side anyway.

Hi,
Quite often the pickup pipe will have gotten a knock !!
either that or the man at BSA was a bit random
Its easy enough to bend the pipe to suit the new mesh

Hi Isuzu,
I wouldnt leave it out
The sump filter stops any bigger bits getting sucked into the oil pump
