Hello, I changed the cush nut to an SRM type and after I tightened it down the engine will not move, as if something is hung up? Anyone else ever hear of this problem? I removed the BSA cush nut with a hammer and a socket extension fairly easily, and the engine did turn over backwards when I tightend down the SRM nut. Now it will not move.

Thanks,
Ron

Lillygunny,

We always respect those who wish to quietly enter the forum, posting some simple first question that breaks the ice, so, allow me subtly say,

"Welcome to the BSA A7/A10 Forum Lillygunny. You are member #452. Glad you could make it. Can't wait to see some photos of your bike!"

Now, having said that, what was making it stick?

Well, I am a bit embarressed and did not want to fess up. I had put an allen screw in the primary inner case to prevent oil leaking out the hole should any wet sumping occur (it sat for over a month before I could finish the job) and did not realize the long screw would impinge on the crankshaft counter weight without the cover on. I scratched my head in a panic for a long time before I realized the problem. eek

I did similar about a year ago and I can't use the excuse of "young" anymore. in mitigation I will declare I was using supplied fasteners but should have checked for length.
Rest easy lillygunny we are all human on here (some more than others granted  smiley4)
