Not entirely sure how to categorise this bike but the photos show a BSA triple converted to DOHC with the familiar timing case (or what's left of it) being the item that drew me to have a closer look.
It was exhibited at a small show "Rollerburn" at Newark Showground this weekend.
The show was run by BIKE journalist Gary Inman who also produces the specialist grasstrack/circuit racing magazine Sideburn and who's company I had the pleasure of on the recent ride from Cape Town to the Victoria Falls along with Charley Boorman.

Also at the show was this B31 engined special which also features in the latest issue of Sideburn magazine and their web based Sideblog. http://sideburnmag.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-11-14T10:51:00Z&max-results=10
The frame is from an M series bike, the engine actually contains several Gold Star components and apparently goes like the proverbial off a shovel. Not pretty at all but actually in the flesh it did look rather menacing.
Obviously lashed together on a shoestring budget, the builder descibes his attempt (failed) to ride to the MOT on a clutch using wine cork based friction pads and how he had cleaned up the ancient engine parts using domestic vinegar in a tin bath.

It takes all sorts !
