After much tooing & froing, I've decided to sell my '61 S/r, & hang on to my '63.
I've put it on ebay, but I'm getting pretty frustrated by all these guys trying to
give me an A10 lesson. My bike is a genuine '61 Super Rocket with factory correct
numbers, but everyone keeps bringing up that the only big valve S/R was the one
with the 71 stamped on the intake manifold, no one can tell me what the difference
was between that one & a standard S/R, I'm pretty sure the ones with 71 stamped
were a special order or something, just ticks me off, my bike has the o/s valves
& I'm pretty sure they all came out with the big valve tank sticker.
Would be interested to hear any further info on this,

regards, Cus

Cus,
You are right, the 1549 is a "big valve" head and was fitted to all Rockets from 1960, maybe 1959 for U.S.
My theory as to the "1571" head is that it was used when an 1 3/16" carby was fitted.
"Big Valve Super Rocket" was only a marketing ploy for the Yankee market.

G'day Trev,
Thanks for that, I thought you would be the one who would know about the
infamous "71" head. Looks like it's the new Holy Grail of Beezas, I've had 2 guys
looking for a genuine bike with that head...."How would you know it was genuine?"
I don't think the head No. would be on the factory records...but could be wrong.

Selling is indeed frustrating... I just cannot bring myself round to advertising one of my A10s for sale. So I'm putting together loosely my basket case 1940 WD M20 which must go to make room and release funds to keep the other stuff mobile, even this is going to be hard.

Well my wife can't say I didn't give it a go!
Thank god they didn't sell, tried one then the other,
had plenty of interest in the '61, but I wouldn't budge
on the price..."worth every penny I reckon".
Not so much interest on the '63 with the modified rear guard
& seat I suspect, so all good!
That will relieve the heat I was getting from the "trouble & strife",
