I'm not sure how much benefit you would feel from an alloy head on the freeway. Iron heads are certainly more relaxing to listen to on a long ride.
Gearing may be something to consider instead.

yes this is a thought too - was think maybe a slight increase in compression and gearing would be the best to still have a reliable A10- not sure to what degree my iron head would allow an increase in CR without complaining - of course if it going to be $400-500 for a head that need to be rebuild, the iron head will stay
