Still searching for a 'Road-Rocket project.

Hi All. I've been searching for a A10 Road-Rocket project for a while now! Where have all the genuine ones gone? All I want is a bike that started life as a 'A10RR' Condition doesn't matter as long as its priced to match. I've scoured the glossy mags, ebay and even placed wanted ads and all the bikes I've found or been offered seem to be fairly similar. The most common problem is that the claimed 'Road-Rocket' is dated as a 1958, 59 or 1960. When this is checked out, they all turn out to be later (more common?) Super-Rockets. The next problem with a correctly dated bike is that the factory despatch records show that they started life as a standard A7 or A10. Now, I know that they were not that common in their day, but there does seem to be so many R/Rocket engines that have been fitted to standard bikes, which, in the mind of the owners, makes them a 'genuine' R/Rocket! In my mind it will always be a A7 with a CA10RR engine. Perhaps, as a sports model they were always ridden harder which often resulted in them laying in a crumpled heap down the bike breakers, and if you had a standard A10 or A7 and wanted a 'bit more go' you just bought the alloy headed engine and swopped them over, but thats just a theory. So. If any one happens to have a 'Genuine' Road-Rocket in need of work, please drop me a line. Many Thanks, Peter

Peter,
Maybe you would have more luck searching for the Holy Grail!
Realistically, a RR is only a tarted up Flash with most parts common so if you could overlook the frame number and look at the whole machine, if it looks like a Road Rocket it is a Road Rocket!
You are looking for bike over 50 years old and it is inevitable that many of them had their frames destroyed and the best option was to replace with whatever was available which would have been A7 and Flash frames because of the sheer numbers.
Let's face it, there is no difference between a RR frame and any of the others in the series.
Even if you do find what you are looking for, who is to say that the numbers on the components are the ones that were there leaving the factory?
Trev.

Hi again Pete, I have a numbers matching 55 RR Project. I also have the original title. Frame and engine are complete including an excellent alloy head. Needs lots but it is correct.
Problem is i'm in Autralia
