Me and my Ariel and an Introduction
«

Hi all
This is me on the way to an Ariel Dutch Rally, I'm waiting for the ferry at Harwich. My bike is a 1958 Ariel Cyclone much like a Huntmaster with a few shiny bits and high handlebars, these were all exported to the States but this one was brought back around 10 years ago. I bought it back in September last year and have done nearly 5000 miles so far. She goes like a steam train!!

Hello & welcome, the engine similarities should make the Ariel a close enough BSA A10 kinship.
And I guess all the Lucas equipment is the same and relevant to this forum as well.

I thought the Ariel was just an A10 in a different overcoat (including timing cover) . Is there more to it than that? I think it's safe to say that Iain (Tombeau) was completely joking (except fot the "welcome", of course:)

A few differences I think Richard, but on the other hand BSA did pinch their hubs for a while, so more or less keeping things in the family

Also of course both makes were made in Brum.
And owned by BSA group, and some Ariels were made at Armoury Road after Selly Oak closed.
