Should not be ridden

Having just got my A10 on the road and having modified it to be reliable enough to be used as the designers intended useing modern tech,although it looks 100% original.It seems most peoples comments are
"you shouldn't be useing that on the road mate they should be kept safe in storage"
  Im probably odd but surely an A10 adds to the scenery amid all the plastic offerings.
Just one question has anyones bike dissolved in rain or will I be ok useing an A10 as everyday transport?

Ride it Taffy. Their just jealous.
Went on a ride last weekend, there was another '51 A7 in show condition so mine looked a little sad. Mine was first at every pub and did look like his 26 years and 60,000 miles ago.

hi taffy its your bike ride and enjoy as for using in rain do you like rust thats what will happen over time
its best to use it on nice days use a plastic bike for the rain they fair better for it but at the end of the day its up to you
what you do with her also when i go out on mine i leave it somewhere i can see it i dont tempt fait put some pics on here so we can have a look at her

I aimed for an A10 that could be used just as any modern bike so yes I will ride it rain or shine it shouldn't rust as it's all stainless and if it upsets people well that's unfortunate.So far I'm strugling to ride it in a sedate manner it's such a hooligan of a machine.I didn't know A10s were so much fun.

I agree with the other guys and you Taffy ride and enjoy,I rode my S7 rain or shine a few years took it to Holland and Norway, one thing about brit bikes they attract characters positive or otherwise.I know I will enjoy my A10 when I get to ride it again looking forward to it,I also like the CB500 great bike but just one of the crowd, brit bikes have the history and charisma I like all of it.Hope you manage to get some karma riding your A10.Cheers

Well, mine is no museum piece, but I think it looks pretty good. I built it to ride it and would not consider just leaving it in the corner of the living room to look at unless, mayabe, I was incapable of riding. Even then, I hope my son or daughter might enjoy it.  I figure, I built it once, if it gets broken or otherwise beat up I can build it again (at least until I am too feeble to care.)

I've heard similar comments to "you shouldn't be useing that on the road mate they should be kept safe in storage" and I think they are meant for classics in the same way that you wouldn't use a vintage roller for going to work on an everday basis. It's a recognition of their historical value and preciousness as an item.

As far as using one in all weathers goes, unless you have a conkers model, it wont come to any harm. I find they usually provide their own weather protection to their lower areas in the form of oil anyway. But I always avoid using it on salted roads.

It,s the same as the comments " oh they always leak oil"  well at least the leaking oil stops them going rusty.

Hi Taffy, I'm with everyone else ,ride it don't hide it!!I'm 61 and have owned my a10 since I was 17 and when i'm going out on it I still have a  grin from ear to ear ,enjoy but keep an eye on it "ther be low life out there ".regards Bob

and if it leaks oil at least you know theres some in it  i do think they are a great bike to ride i did have a sports bike and i still think the bsa is the best bike i have i always wanted one when i was younger i saw one and i thort to myself one day i will have one of them now i have i will take it to my grave and if permitted have her buried with me so i can ride throe the pearly gates or somewhere nice and hot  lol

bugger that i`m in the prosess of building a A7 and intend using it as much as poss and intend on following in me dads tyre tracks he`s 78 and still riding scotts,royal enfields, moto morini and a new yamaha so ignore these people and wave to them as you pass them in traffic jams laughing your head off.

Found a great way to stop my 51 A10 wet sumping - ride it to work. Puts a smile on my face before I get to the office
