It's very good when members state their country in the profile, a few words in the "Personal Text", "Signature" or "Custom Title" field in Profile > Modify Profile > Forum Profile Information will show in all posts. Takes less than a minute. Useful when f.ex. looking for help, A10 owners nearby or parts in ones own area etc
Next: is it a plunger or swingarm , A7, A10 or... ? Please enter a short description in the same fields mentioned above, makes it much easier to answer requests for help.
Thanks adm

"Where are you from" here in the US is typically a request for information as to your birthplace (we are a mobile people): "Where are you" inquires about your current location. Anyway, it's a fine idea to have correspondents indicate the country they are posting from. Thanks for suggesting this!
adm edit: changed "Where are you from" into "Where are you situated"

Country and, perhaps, city. To an even finer point, being in Los Angeles is very different from being in NYC.

Administrators idea was for members to fill in their Country and General Area in their personal Profile so that the information comes up automatically with their introduction details. For example...mine says NE England.
It makes it much easier when members are requesting certain information...especially suppliers of spare parts. For example, it's no good me suggesting someone from my area if you are from the USA or Oz. I might be able to recommend a supplier closer to you if I knew where you were. If everyone did this there is always the possibility that you could even find other members in your area.
Follow Erling's prompt in his opening message. Profile>Modify Profile>Forum Profile Informatiom. As he says, it only takes a minute and it really is very helpful.

I think it's pretty well safe enough to put where we are, we only have to put a rough location, it could be the State in the USA ie. Nevada or Alaska or Alice Springs if your in S'trailia.

Can I bring this subject up again, as there have been a few times when, as for instance someone was asking for help with a craven rack, but not knowing what country or if in the uk their location, I did not reply to the post as I may have been to far away to help. I wonder if there is any reason as to why a person cannot put the actual county they reside in, perhaps they fear reprisals for any chance remarks they may make, however for instance Wiltshire is a large place and without my village name which I have added it would be hard to track anyone down.

RGS Man, aka Mark Perth, Western Australia, a suburb between Perth and Fremantle called Attadale. Its very warm here at the moment, hovering around the low 30's. My BSA ride is a 1963 Rocket Gold Star (NOT a replica). Always hankered after one, now I'm nearly 55 I can afford one! Imported it to Aus from the UK about 5 months ago, purchased from Venture Classics in the West Country. The owner of the company, Chris Spaight is a really nice bloke to deal with, very helpful etc, and honest, which of course is very important. The bike I bought is a good honest machine, good, but far from mint. I am improving it, but bought it to ride, not polish, if you get my drift. Cheers Mark

At your age, Mark, you should be ashamed of yourself. Fancy taking an RGS from the Poms. As punishment you should send it to Brian in Mt Gambier who would really, really appreciate it. Seriously, you will come to love your RGS like a brother. I have owned mine for well over thirty years, probably closer to forty. Actually, it is forty years this year. Mine also is genuine, I have checked the numbers, but it is waiting its second restoration. Trev.

Yes Mark, you should send it over to me. Where I live we have things in the roads called "corners". A bit hard to describe but imagine one of your roads with a bend in it that you dont have to travel 1,000 k's to find !!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, I would like one but have left it too late as they have got too expensive for me. I could sell some of the bikes I have to buy one but just cant bring myself to part with any.
Its good to hear you bought it to ride. Its nice to have a tidy bike but go is far more important than glow.
Enjoy it, you have waited a long time by the sounds of it.
