Hello
I am a new member who has been given a 1961 Golden flash which is completely in pieces. It belonged to the father of a friend of mine who passed away last year. He had collected a few new parts for it with the intention of putting it back together but never got around to it. I want to put it back together and am currently trying to get as much information as possible having bought the Haynes Manual and only yeaterday the Parts Guide.
Unfortunately the crankcase and crankshaft are missing thought they may still be in the previous owners house somewhere or he may have sent them away for some work to be carried out and not got them back. Could someone let me know if these vital parts are difficult to come by ?
I am intending to use the forum to help me with the restoration and hopefully I will be able to meet or chat to some other owners in Scotland.

G'day Davie, welcome to the forum. No you will never find those parts, the best thing to do is pack up the parts and send to me  . No, ok you'll be looking for a large journal crank and cases with a # DA10 13201 to DA10 17180. You lucky bugga. Cheers |

i bought a matched set of cases for £80. They really need to be a matched pair
Large journal cranks are alittle more of a rarity expect to pay around £200

I have three sets of cases now one CA10 one DA10 and one DA10R which cost me £100, the DA10 and the CA10 cases are matched and could be available although I would rather part with the CA10 ones first
I only have one spare L/J crank which is not for sale at this time but they do come up 2 years ago I paid 330 for mine but prices have jumped a bit since then.
con rods are the problem they do not turn up very often and the new ones are about £200 as well.
In fact whilst I am posting I am looking for a pair of large journal conrod caps to go with a set of conrods I have, I know before you say anything I will have to have them machined to match, but that will be cheaper hopefully than buying new

Thanks guys for all the responses. A lot of useful information.
If the DA10 type of casing is what originally came with this bike, I would prefer to get that type.
There are a decent pair of conrods with the parts so hopefully they should be useable.
Rich - if you would consider selling the DA10 casing I would certainly be interested. However if you do wish to sell could you give me first option on buying until I see if the ones for the bike are still in the house I would appreciate it.

Mine is a 1948 A7 rigid. I will be taking it to Hungary but I probably won't ride it there. The only road out of the village where I will be living has a very poor surface so is not ideal for a rider with back trouble on a bike with no rear suspension. I will probably do some restoration and bring the bike back to UK to sell it. There are lots of bikes in Hungary though so I will investigate the classic scene there. |

Had some good news on the missing parts and took receipt yesterday of the missing crankcase, *smile*which was found in a kitchen cupboard ! . Could anyone tell me the diameter of larger journals so I can check it is the right type. I am hopeful now that the crankcase will aslo be there, somewhere.
