Hi Everyone

I would like to remove the long bell mouth fitted to the carb and fit an air filter, I have tried a bit of force with no luck, any advice would be great.

Thanks
Nick

G'day Nick,
Try heating with a hair dryer or heat gun, it's a fairly fine thread, doesn't take much to make them stick,
maybe a bit of fuel varnish in there,

regards, cus

How was the force applied? I like strap wrenches for such tasks. So, a bit of heat (not a torch, of course, unless it's off the bike) and then the strap wrench, maybe.

It's not rocket science, but what model carb are you inquiring about?

Is it the kind that's held by radial grub screws?

Sounds kinky but if you put on a surgical rubber glove you can get loads more grip and avoid damage from using a metal tool on it
Works every time for spin on oil filters as well.......

Thanks Everyone

Its a standard screw on type, so its the rubber gloves and a bit of heat, tanks already off.

If you have an old bicycle inner tube cut a long strip off it, rap that round as well for more grip.bicycle i/t because its thinner but could try m/c inner tube if you have one.
