which carb was fitted to the 1960 spitfire, monoblock or the 10tt gp,does the GP run any better or does it suffer from starting problems.

I believe 1960 would have been a monobloc. As far as I can tell, the 10TT9 was only fitted in '57 and possibly '58.
And no, a GP carb won't start any easier than a TT. Neither has a proper pilot (idle) circuit.

According to the Amal reference catalogue 1960 - 61 Super Rocket and Spitfire were fitted with 10TT9/13. All the best Goldy

My USA literature lists the Monobloc, with the 10TT9 as an option (1960 only).

thats great cheers,so i take it as the tt doesnt have the pilot system, the mono is the better option, but the tt does look better.

Actually, the Monobloc, the GP and the TT carbs all have pilot circuits. The GP is a slackwire throttle and consequently is difficult to idle properly.
Goldy is correct in that the "home" Spitfire was fitted with the 10TT9; the "export" version had the Monobloc.

Andy,
Depends on which head you are using.
Alloy 15 degrees, iron 7 degrees.
