NOPE!!! I've seen the film and how that ended for Steve McQueen.  
Must've been a Triumph Trophy (disguised as BMW) he was using I think.

The rider for the jump was Bud Ekins. He owned the local Triumph dealer in Van Nuys, CA, USA, about 3.5 miles from where I grew up. As far as I know, BSA may have been there also, but at 18 years old, I really liked the Bonnevilles, but couldn't afford one. It was probabaly hanging out at that shop, drooling, that has influeced me, to this day, in British bikes.

It was indeed. Both he and McQueen were excellent riders and both rode Triumphs in the USA team for the 1964 ISDT in East Germany.
