Had to pull my Flash's engine apart for apparent reasons yesterday (wrote a thread about it in "Stories and Chat").

What struck me was the way carbon has built up on the pistons.
You can clearly see that the drive side piston (number 1) has no carbon building up on the inner side, exactly where the conrod oil hole is. I trace that back to the cooling effect of the oil that obviously indeed is squirted up all the way to the piston crown.
There are also less traces of burnt oil on the inside of the timing side piston, unlike the other one shows them.
