Well, as one form of local bike activity, I rode to the local Harley dealer to look around. While walking around with my complimentary cup of java, a salesman calls out, "Who owns the BSA?" I figured I was parked in the wrong place. Nope. "Someone backed into your bike and knocked it over." "Oh sh*t!", says I. On seeing the bike, I was obviously not happy but somewhat relieved to see the damage was limited. There is a small bend in the rear mudguard, a scrape on the front mudguard, damaged headlight bezel, broken clutch perch and damaged seat cover. Right now I'm waiting for the tow service to arrive at my house with the bike.
It's not that there is that much damage, it's just that I don't know how they can compensate me for all of my work it is going to take to impement the reairs.

Steve,
Bumper's insurance appears to be in order. Had the law there just to be sure Bumper's documents were legit. He didn't run and several people were witnesses. The Harley dealer was quite helpful, receiving faxes from insurers and storing my bike until the tow service arrived.
Thanks all for the good thoughts.

At least he didnt do a runner so you can work it out.
Its not nice though, I have had it happen to a brand new bike (had it about 1 hour) Its not a nice feeling seeing your pride and joy lying on the road.
Hope it all works out well.

It happened in 1975, I had just picked up my brand new Suzuki GT750 (water bottle) from the dealer and parked it out in front of my work. About 3/4 of an hour later one of the office girls came out and said someone had just run into my bike and taken off. Fortunately not much damage, broken lever and a couple of scratches. Never did find out who the mongrel was.
Its not a nice feeling and I can sympathise with Richard.

Sorry to hear this Richard, It really hurts when so much time, effort and care goes into a machine. Hope you soon get it sorted and all paid for. Keep us updated on how it goes.
