G'day All,
Bit of a late entry, my bike on a 50's-60's background,

regards, Cus

Great shot Cus, what a brilliant idea. Where, how ? I need a 1960 Ace Cafe backdrop.

Hei Cus,

I have admired your avatar, and was curious to see it bigger. I was wondering if it was a painting. It reminded me of '60's Ladybird book illustrations. Has the bike been photoshopped onto a painted background and a filter used? If so, nice clipping paths! ..particularly around the spokes.

Cheers,

I'm looking at the pumps and thinking maybe this is a genuine untouched photo taken in something like a fire station or ambulance depot where they fill up their own vehicles.
To think we dumped a pair of pumps  like that from the farm about twenty odd years ago.
Also noticed the angled pillion footrest and wonder if this is a workaround for the way they foul the silencer when folded down?

And are those the photo takers legs reflected just below the petrol tank badge.

Anyway that is one nice bike, looks like what I hope my project will turn out like apart from the colour and rims.
Hoping to get back to the project today, so far this week's been taken up unfreezing sinks, digging cars out of the snow and standing up wondering why my back no longer bends like it used to ( lack of use of late I reckon ).

my bike on a 50's-60's background,

Bill, You made me re-read Cus' post and look at the picture again. If you look between the cables and the handlebars; you see white where there should be background, also look at the shadow's sidestand..it doesnt reach the bike. There are also white pixels visible on the edges of the mudguards. It's well done though. I used to do that sort of thing for a living. You get good at checking your own work for such things before its printed billboard size.

Ok, Ok, Ok......"Stop looking too closely"
The background I downloaded from Istock photo's, & then placed my bike over the top
in Photoshop. I have my own sign business, so do abit of this type of work from time to time.
The spoke thing was an issue, takes heaps of time to mask them, but if you look closely at
the front wheel, I haven't masked them at all, just added shadows, the original photo of the
bike had a calico dropsheet behind it, & it was nearly the same colour as the concrete in the
pic. The original idea was to get a picture of my bike at an old farm house I ride past, that
has a pair of old bowsers out the front, but when I asked the owners they were less than
friendly, so it was plan B. I have a large format digital printer, & have printed that image on
artist canvas about 1200mm high & stretched on a frame, it's the next best thing to parking
your bike in the house, (I've been knocked back several times on this issue!)
I would be happy to help anyone from the forum with this type of thing, I'm by no means
an expert, it's kind of a side-line thing.

regards, Cus

Yep I see it now - you guys must have a lot more patience than I have that's for sure.
Sets the bike off nice though.
