I gave my Flash it's annual clean yesterday as it is inspection time.
Didn't come up too badly.

Y'know I think my tastes are maturing.
When I was young I really didn't like A10s with big mudguards and diving helmet nacelles, but now I look at something  like yours and think "Handsome machine."
Cheers,
Iain

I ride it occasionally as I also have another bike which has to be used as well.
It was pretty filthy before I cleaned it. Almost a disgrace.
Funny thing about the headlight, when I was a young fella I removed it and tossed it along with the guards.
Then I had to find some when I restored it.
The colour is close but could be better. Looks nicer than some of the bright golds that some use.

Must agree with you on the colour Trev, it's the one thing I am most disappointed with on mine.

Beautiful bike Trev!
Here is my '54. The colour should be correct; I purchased a small tin from Polly Palmer who said it was a match to the BSA records, then matched it locally.

Here is my colour match and instructions, from a spreadsheet I prepared.

MACHINE PAINT SPECIFICATIONS: 1954 A10 (swinging arm frame)

SIKKENS
AK20 - NOBEL (SPARTAN)-(WATTYL)
Paint Ref: Page 317 grid B-3
Subaru/Fuji paint code 60 (9986)            MELLOW GOLD 1981 Grid 10322
Special mix: 2.0 grams 744 Black added to 1.0 litre

Notes:
1   No hardener to be used in the colour
2   AUTOCRYL Primer / Filler (3:1 mix with hardener; 300ml to 100 ml hardener) 3% Reducer if req'd
3   UROCRYL colour (1:1 with Reducer) No hardener
4   AUTOCLEAR 2000 (2:1 mix with hardener; 200 ml Auto Clear to 100 ml  Hardener)
Plus 10% Reducer (not less than 5% Reducer; not more than 10% Reducer)

Fuel Tank Finish:
Chrome side panels, Polychromatic Beige (gold) on top. Red pin striping around chrome panels (2 stripes; inside stripe is thicker).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
(A) Primer:
Apply three coats, and allow to set overnight.
Let each coat dry for five minutes. Coat thickness is to be to "flash off"[go dull].

Rub back with P180 sandpaper (dry).
Spray on another paint as a "guide coat", then rub back with grade 600 paper (wet).

(B) Colour:
Wet a rag with "Wax & Grease Remover", and wipe the primer coat.

Thanks for your kind comment, Richard.
I will file your formula for future reference.
I only put one pinstripe around my tank as all the '55s I have seen pictured were like that. The picture of the '54 in Bacon's book shows two stripes.
Where did you get the info re tank badge colour? I matched mine to an original and all of the originals I have seen are the maroon type shade. I used a model paint which was as close as I could match. Colour is "Hull Red".
I know I have asked you before, but have you got the Road Rocket colour on your sheet now?
