Hello,

click "PROFILE" at the top menu of the forum page,
click "Forum Profile Information",
click "I will upload my own picture",
click "Browse",

which will lead to your computer's desktop, where you (hopefully) have a sharp, small .jpg picture prepared & ready to become uploaded as your avatar. As you see, a personal text to appear with the pic is also possible.

Hope this helps, any problems I help if I can.

Regards
E.
