Okay... Only taken yesterday, so here is mine. Just recently got the chrome tank on and the twin carbs done. Girder Forks! totally wrong I know and is quite unusual of me to go 'unoriginal' but I still have all the original bits to put back on if I should get fed up or sell on the bike.

Girder Forks on a Plunger frame? I know, strange isn't it? BUT the ride yesterday was quite supprisingly smooth and I think will be smoother when I eventually get the shock damper knob and bits that are on order. I'm not sure if I'm entirely happy with the front brake plate, I have had an M20 one arrive this morning curtesy of ebay and will most likely fit that but will need a complete new spindle and bearings being 3/4 inch wheras the present one is only half inch. The idea is that I'd like to fit a front brake rod attachment rather than the full length cable. [Talk about making work for oneself!]

Yes! the twin carbs are now fitted and working very well indeed, much better than I expected.

How will you get a thicker spindle through the ends of the forks? I should not think there's enough metal to drill the holes bigger  confused

Hi LJ, Do I see an anti-bias spacer? I have pretty much the same bike and twin carbs also and I am having no end of trouble getting the cylinders to run evenly. What I mean by that is that one side always runs a bit hotter than the other indicating perhaps it is working harder. If you have fitted an anti-bias what led you to do that? Cheers, Dave

man, that is a piece of work!! the routing on the oil and fuel lines is great, but it would seem to me that copper might become brittle after so much vibration?  you are much more in the know than I and it looks great, so don't let me cast aspersions on anything :)

I like the forks, it gives it an even older looking bike than it already is!!

I can't see exactly how the petrol pipes run but the originals normally had an extra little coil of pipe just below the tap to absorb vibration. I dare say this would be quite difficult to fit in with the more bulky twin carb setup.

Of course your correct to say that there should be a coil in the copper pipeing, but as fido mentions there is no room and indeed there isn't as I'd liked to have inserted one. Between the carbs there is a rubber/cotton type pipe to deal with vibration. Probably just as well because I'd never have got me fingers in there to polish the copper!  lol

Fido... I'm still working on the spindle size problem, will report when done.
