hi again, just wondering if anyone can help me find a good 2:1 ratio tachometer for my 1960 a10 rocket as the one on it is working ok but is a 4:1 ratio, and i need a 2:1 because it works off the magneto i think the 4:1 i have is more suited to a triumph so if anyone know the wareabouts of one i would be grateful..

Alf,

What did you find out by testing the right-angle drive box. Is it, indeed, a 1-to-1 ratio?

Where are you Alf UK?

If you are theres a guy call Poeple in Frimley in Hampshire that rebuilds speedos and rev counters.

I needed a rev counter the one that is driven off the oil pump (RGS/Super Rocket expensive type!!) and he built me a new one, He actually used a old speedo i had and rebuilt it using the casings from that. I think he will supply then new too.

He has rebuilt all my clocks, If your interested he advertises in the back of the BSA Star magazine, if you cant find him i'll dig up his details when i get home.

Hope this helps

Ashley Pople: trades as Speedo Repairs. Nice guy, great service.
http://www.speedorepairs.co.uk/

He rebuilt my speedo, converted it to kilometres per hour . The speedo case I had was chrome over badly pitted metal (like make-up over acne) He supplied a new case for it as well as kmh face, it also needed a reset button. He did all this, supplied a cable and sent me back the original mph face and chromed case back. For £125. Top service! I would strongly recommend him.

The job did take quite a long time to get done though (he's popular and busy), and I found that when the mileometer (Kilometreometer?) reached 999km it zeroed itself. I called him about this, he said  to send it back when the riding season was over, and he'd sort it....I still haven't  got round to doing this. I'm still happy with his work though.
Cheers,
Iain

Hi Iain

Bugger thats it really nice guy, its a terrible thing getting old!! my memorys shot!

Yes he is a busy guy! and he takes a little while but its worth it. He rebuilt my A65 and Bonnie's clocks and then when i started to rebuild this Road Rocket, RGS tourer style and found out how much Rev counters were for Oil pump drive models i nearly had heart failure. (if you can get one).

He built me a Rev counter of the correct type utilising some parts from an old A10 speedo for £90 .... Brillent.

Good Service worth remembering (if i could)

Catch you later Iain

The direct email link on their page has an error, enquiries@speedorepairs.co.uk should work.
