As I am about to send the
Triumph Around the World book to Chris (Flatboy) in South Africa, I thought I would add some pictures you all (not "y'all", because I'm not from the South) might find interesting. Erling already included the front cover, so I woun't post it again. There is a picture of the inside front cover with the list of names and destinations (I blanked out surnames so as not to breach privacy). There is a picture of the Sombreros Motorcycle Club sticker from DT in Brazil. He included three with the book and I took the liberty of keeping one. I hope there is no objection. Then, I made up a map with the journies made by the book and by Robbie Marshall drawn in.
I enjoyed the read, but "literature" like "quality" lives largely in the mind of the observer. (See
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.) For me, it's not literature, but fun none-the-less. I daydream of such a trip, but he did it! I think Mexico, Central America and Colombia would be even more dangerous today, considering the cartels.
On another note, I suggest checking out Flatboy's website. Great vintage Harley stuff.
